Aussie Woman Wins $60.6M After Last-Minute Number Change

A woman from New South Wales has become an overnight millionaire after making a last-minute alteration to her lottery ticket, securing a staggering prize of over $60.6 million.

The resident of Queanbeyan, in the state's south-east, matched all seven numbers and the Powerball number in draw 1567 on Thursday night. Her PowerHit entry also won division two 19 times, bringing her total winnings to $60,638,678.35.

'Oh my god! Holy c**p!' she exclaimed when receiving the life-changing call. 'I'm just sitting here watching the women's State of Origin.'

She explained that she changed one of the numbers on the PowerHit after a quick selection: 'I did a fast select on the ticket, but then thought I had too many numbers in the 30s. I had 33 and 34, so I took out 33 and made it 5. How insane is that!'

The woman said she is young enough to fully enjoy the prize and ensure her loved ones are comfortable for the rest of their lives. She plans to keep working, but not full-time. 'Up until 10 minutes ago, I had a mortgage,' she added.

In the same draw, up to 30 division two winners each received $33,614.65, while 103 players won $12,109.50 in division three. So far in 2026, eight Powerball division one winners have taken home $205 million, with four in New South Wales, three in Victoria, and one in Western Australia.
