A Wishaw mother could face jail after police discovered cocaine worth £30,000 during a raid on her home. The haul included 112 small bags of powder prepared for sale, as heard at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
Louise Sommerville, 41, of Carrick Crescent, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug on October 3 last year.
Police Raid and Discovery
Neil Thomson, prosecuting, stated that police officers obtained a search warrant following intelligence about drug activity at the house. When they arrived at 11.20am, Sommerville was not at home, and another person allowed them entry.
Thomson said: “The officers found a tub of cocaine weighing just under a quarter of a kilogramme with an estimated value of up to £28,240.”
“They also recovered 112 small bags containing cocaine street deals. These were estimated to be worth £2240 in total. Scales and empty bags were also found.”
Admission and Court Proceedings
The accused returned home around 12.20pm. She appeared to realise that drugs had been found and told the officers: “That’s all mine. I put it there last night. Nobody else who lives here knows.”
Sommerville appeared in court as a first offender. Her lawyer, Frances Taylor, said she was bailed after an initial court appearance in December “and there have been no infringements of the bail order”.
Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentence until September 30 for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
