A mother in Llanelli has expressed shock after discovering blue tablets, believed to be drugs, scattered across a children's playground. Lizz, who asked not to be named, found the tablets on the floor of Morfa playground after picking her son up from school.
She witnessed a young child picking up the tablets, thinking they were sweets, before shouting at them to put them down. Lizz said she was 'shocked and shaking' and collected all the tablets, later handing them in at Llanelli Police Station, where officers confirmed they were drugs.
The incident has been reported to both police and Llanelli Town Council. The council stated that inspections have been carried out at all parks within the Glanymor Ward, adding that the town's parks have suffered from anti-social behaviour, vandalism, and arson over the summer.
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a quantity of drugs had been handed in and sent for destruction, and that patrols will be carried out by the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Concerns have previously been raised about drug use in the area and surrounding communities including Seaside, New Dock, Tyisha and Penyfan.
