Murder Charge After Retired Nurse Dies in House Fire

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 72-year-old retired nurse in a house fire in Teddington.

Carole Harrison was found dead inside her home in the early hours of 22 August. Police launched a murder investigation after discovering evidence suggesting she may have sustained injuries before the blaze.

Ms Harrison, a mother of five, lived alone following the death of her husband Terence, a bus driver, in 2005. Her family described her as 'a loving mother and caring person' who dedicated most of her life to nursing for the NHS and in private care homes.
