Police Appeal

Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Osborne said: “The investigation is in the very early stages as we continue to establish what has taken place. I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of South Road between 1:30am and 2am this morning to please get in touch.”

He urged residents to check CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage for anything suspicious. The order covers Crosby Beach, Hall Road West, the Merseyrail Railway line, Crosby Road South, Cambridge Road, and Marine Lake.

Background Context

This Section 60 order was introduced on Saturday, June 27 at 12:30pm for 24 hours, following a dispersal zone created on Friday night due to reports of anti-social behaviour, drug use, and dangerous driving. Locals have described Waterloo as coming "under siege" when large crowds head to the beach during hot weather. At the end of May, residents reported "absolute bedlam" from feral teenagers. Sefton Council stated: "Anti-social behaviour on our streets is not tolerated."

Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Osborne added: “We all know too well the devastation gun and knife crime can cause across our communities and we use all available powers to target and bring to justice those who supply, store, possess and use weapons.”
