An 11-year-old girl has died in a suspected drug-related incident in Helensburgh, prompting a police investigation. Olivia Curley was taken unwell at her home on Friday and rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where she was placed in intensive care. She died on Monday.
Her mother, Samantha, paid tribute to her daughter, vowing that “justice will be done”. In a social media post, she said: “You all have my daughter’s blood on your hands.” Olivia’s aunt, Allie Lorrieman, also spoke out, saying: “Although the bullies made your life hard, I could see the greatness in you.”
Police Scotland said the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. A spokesperson said: “Around 11.40am on Monday, November 17, we received a report of an 11-year-old girl taken unwell in the Helensburgh area.” The force confirmed she had been taken to hospital on Sunday and died on Monday.
Hermitage Academy, where Olivia was a pupil, expressed devastation at the news. A spokesperson said: “We are devastated to hear about the death of one of our pupils. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this awful time.” Support is being provided to pupils and staff.
