Two dead, one injured in fatal Edenderry house fire

A devastating house fire in County Offaly has resulted in the tragic deaths of a young boy and a woman, with another woman left fighting serious injuries.

Emergency Services Rush to Castleview Park

Emergency services were called to a domestic residence in Castleview Park, Edenderry, at approximately 7.45pm on Saturday evening. Upon arrival, they encountered a severe fire at the property. Fire crews from the local fire service worked to extinguish the blaze.

Fatalities and Serious Injury Confirmed

In a statement released on Sunday morning, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed the grim outcome. "An Garda Síochána can confirm two fatalities as a result of this house fire. A female, aged 60 years and a young boy were fatally injured", they said.

The spokesperson added that a second woman, aged in her 50s, sustained serious injuries. She was treated at the scene by emergency services before being transported to a hospital in the Midlands for urgent medical care.

Scene Preserved for Investigation

The scene of the fatal fire has been preserved for detailed technical and forensic examinations. Authorities are also making arrangements for post-mortem examinations to be carried out on the bodies of the deceased.

Gardaí based in Tullamore are leading the investigation into the cause of the blaze. They are now appealing for any witnesses who may have information to come forward. Anyone who was in the Castleview Park area around the time of the fire is urged to contact investigating officers.
