Ajay Anderson, 18, of Tinto Street, Wishaw, admitted a course of abusive behaviour towards his girlfriend between September 2024 and July last year. The couple were together for around two years and he was only 16 when he started becoming aggressive to her.
Threats and offensive remarks
Kevin Morrow, prosecuting, said Anderson made threats to hurt his girlfriend, on one occasion warning he would "bounce your head off the wall". Mr Morrow told the court: "He would also make offensive remarks about her disabled father."
"At one point he said, 'We'll be tanning your dad's windows'."
Phone smashed during argument
During one argument Anderson took possession of his girlfriend's phone, throwing it to the ground and causing the screen to smash. "Later she lent him the phone because he didn't have one at the time and when she asked for it to be returned he refused."
Anderson also accused the girl of cheating on him and, when she'd had enough of his verbal abuse, told her: "If you're thinking of going to the police don't grass us in."
Sentence deferred
Sheriff Kevin McCallum KC deferred sentence on Anderson until next month for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
