Jay Stewart, a 19-year-old jailed for the murder of schoolboy Kayden Moy, has recorded a rap video from prison that mocks the killing. The footage, circulated on Snapchat, shows a masked, topless Stewart in his cell in front of a Rangers flag.
Details of the rap
In the video, Stewart raps: "I caught the wee c**t and I taught him a lesson." He also says: "I've already flung KM in a zoot," referring to killing Kayden and symbolically smoking him like a marijuana joint. He makes references to the Himshie gang, rivals to Stewart's Murray Boys, and boasts about violent attacks: "My boy chopped another one straight in the neck."
Outrage and investigation
An East Kilbride mother said: "Stewart has no remorse for Kayden's death. He's boasting about the crimes he and his gang members have committed. Prison seems like a holiday camp. He's hanging about with his pals filming videos - where is the punishment?" Police Scotland confirmed officers are investigating. The Scottish Prison Service said it recognised the distress such videos can cause and is assisting with enquiries.
The murder
Stewart, Cole Turley (18), and a 15-year-old boy (who cannot be named) stabbed Kayden to death at Irvine Beach on May 17, 2025. The trio, members of the Murray Boys gang from East Kilbride, travelled to the seaside town after learning via social media that Kayden and his friends were there. Turley carried a lockback knife; Stewart had an extendable baton. Kayden, unarmed, was pursued and fell, then Turley stabbed him twice. Stewart brandished the baton, shouted "Murray Boys," and told a witness: "He f*ing deserved it."
After the attack, the three fled the beach. Later that day, doorbell camera footage captured them running into a flat in East Kilbride. The court heard they had made another rap about Kayden shortly after the attack. A friend said the trio were "ecstatic" and "over the moon." At sentencing, Lord Scott said: "You didn't care whether Kayden lived or died." Stewart and Turley were ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years; the 15-year-old must serve at least 14 years.
Kayden's father, Paul Moy, said: "One moment of violence has destroyed so many lives, and no family should ever have to endure the pain that we now live with every day. While today's outcome brings a measure of justice, it does not bring peace. It does not bring our son back."
