Stuart Hogg cryptic post after split from Leonna Mayor

Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has shared a cryptic social media message following the announcement of his split from television presenter Leonna Mayor.

Announcement of the Split

Leonna Mayor, the 34-year-old ITV Racing and Sky Sports host, revealed the end of her relationship with Hogg in an emotional Instagram post on Friday. The couple, who began dating in November 2023, share a son named Teddy, who was born almost a year ago. Mayor stated she was now focused on a "fresh start" for herself and her child.

In her announcement, Mayor wrote: "Lots of you guys asking about my situation and life recently – I am no longer with Stuart." She added, "We’ll just say it’s just me and Teddy. It has been for a while now... New year. Fresh start. Me and the most precious thing."

Hogg's Cryptic Response and Troubled Past

Shortly after Mayor's statement, the 33-year-old former rugby star posted a mysterious update on his own Instagram page. The post featured the lyrics, "The peace that you feel without them is worth being the villain in their story," set to the song 'Tit for Tat' by Tate McRae.

This development comes just over a year after Hogg's legal troubles. In November 2024, Hogg was convicted under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act for a campaign of abuse against his ex-wife, Gillian. He pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court. Mayor had stood by him during the sentencing.

The couple's romance had become public knowledge just days after Hogg's ex-wife gave birth to their fourth child. Hogg has spoken openly about his past struggles, telling the Rugby Paper he used alcohol to "escape" and that he "hurt people" during a difficult period in his life.

Career Comeback and Moving Forward

Despite retiring from rugby at 31, Hogg made a return to the sport in 2024, joining French club Montpellier. He linked his initial retirement to an attempt to save his marriage, stating, "I gave up on my rugby career to try to save my marriage. At the time, I didn't know who I was."

He has since claimed to be in a better place mentally, saying, "I'm learning to be selfless for the right reasons - for my kids, my partner, my team." With both individuals now stating they are on separate paths, the focus turns to their futures as co-parents to their young son.
