A 'predatory' sex offender from Stockport has been jailed again after he was found to have been posing as a teenage boy during sick chats with young girls.
James Davidson, 60, was first sent to prison in 2020, being sentenced to two years behind bars for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming, and attempting to cause a child under 16 to watch a sexual act.
As part of his sentence he was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), which restricted his online activity and was monitored by Greater Manchester Police's Sex Offender Management Unit.
Devices found during raid
In March 2025, officers from the unit raided his home after a tip-off he was breaching the order. They found a number of electronic devices he had failed to declare. The devices were then forensically analysed.
Davidson refused to reveal his passwords, as he was legally required to do as part of the SHPO. However specialist officers managed to decrypt them.
They found he had been communicating with multiple girls while using aliases and pretending to be a 17 year-old boy.
Victim identified and supported
After one girl said she was only 14, Davidson said he 'didn't care about the age' and 'went on to describe his sexual desires in explicit detail' GMP said.
The girl was identified and supported by specialist officers. Davidson was arrested again following which a further search of his address uncovered further undeclared devices.
Davidson admitted sexual communication with a child and 25 breaches of his SHPO at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday (September 7). He was sentenced to two years and seven months in prison by a judge.
