User @home_reimagined shared a reminder to deep clean the toilet, explaining: "I know it seems weird, but as with any cleaning, you need to start by dusting the toilet first."
Skipping this stage means you'll just be "pushing wet debris around", which is far from ideal if you're aiming for a bathroom you can be proud of when guests visit.
The full deep-clean routine
The social media user recommended starting with "a duster you can toss or wash afterwards" to keep everything hygienic. They then advised: "Spray and wipe all exteriors, including the flushing handle and all the nooks and crannies of the toilet. Grab some paper towels and wipe the top and underside of the seats."
It's best to remove the toilet seat, which usually takes only a few seconds to unscrew and pull off, as a surprising amount of grime gets stuck underneath. If pressed for time, a pressure steamer can push the gunk out.
Scrubbing and finishing touches
She continued: "Fill the inside of the bowl with toilet bowl cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing, making sure to get under the lip of the toilet."
Finally, you'll need to "flush and rinse the toilet bowl scrubber in fresh water. Spray to disinfect if needed." The housework whiz also offered a tip regarding the brush: "Let the brush dry fully between the seats before putting it away to avoid mould and bacteria growth in the brush holder."
