Katie Knowles, the 35-year-old wife of TV presenter Nick Knowles, has hit back at online trolls after she bravely shared that she was raped by her father. The designer spoke out in an Instagram video over the weekend, prompted by a CNN investigation into a global online rape academy where men shared tactics for drugging and sexually assaulting women.
While many offered support, Katie faced 'idiotic' comments, including one user who questioned why she hadn't reported the abuse sooner, given her father is now dead. She responded: 'Because I was a child - what a backwards f**king idiotic comment.' She shared screenshots of the comments on her Instagram Story under the label 'Idiot watch'.
In her emotional video, Katie said she had never spoken publicly about the abuse before, but had undergone therapy to cope. She noted that abuse often occurs within families, not just from strangers. 'In my case it was a man. It's almost always in sexual abuse like that, someone that you know or a family member,' she said.
Katie also recounted other harassment incidents, such as being approached by older men while in her school uniform. She married Nick, 63, last summer in Essex, having met at a children's playgroup attended by her daughter and his son.
