Man charged with murder of GP at children's sleepover

A man has been charged with the murder of a GP who was hosting a children's party at her farmhouse near Sandringham Estate. Mark Cain, 45, was arrested after Hannah Cain's body was discovered in the £800,000 property in Fern Hill, Dersingham, in the early hours of Sunday.

Paramedics rushed to her home and found her dying of critical injuries. The ambulance crew then called police to the scene, where she was pronounced dead at around 2.30am. A post-mortem examination took place on Monday, but her cause of death has not been established.

Charge and court appearance

Mark Cain, of Fern Hill, Dersingham, was charged with Hannah's murder on Tuesday. He has been remanded in custody to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The mother-of-three was also known as Dr Hannah Terry at her GP practice. Grimston Medical Centre, including the dispensary, was temporarily closed on Monday. A message posted by the practice said: 'We are sorry to let patients know that Grimston Medical Centre, including the dispensary, is temporarily closed due to extremely difficult circumstances affecting our practice team.'

Tributes from neighbours

Dr Terry, a qualified doctor of 15 years, also ran a business called Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, where she carried out beauty procedures. In her profile, she said: 'I am proud to be a caring and professional doctor with a keen interest in aesthetics.'

Neighbours told the Fakenham Times of their shock at her death. One said: 'She was just a lovely human being with three gorgeous young children. Something's obviously gone very badly wrong. I'm just out of words, we all are.'

A neighbour in his 90s, who lives next door, said: 'I didn't know anything until the police came. I very rarely saw them, the children were lovely, two boys and a younger girl. They used to kick their football into my garden and I'd throw it back to them, or they'd come and ask me if they could come in and look for it.'
