Married teacher raped 11-year-old boy during 'play dates' at her home

A married supply teacher is facing jail after admitting raping an 11-year-old pupil during so-called play dates at her home in Illinois.

Alley Bardfield, 34, kissed the boy, removed his clothes and had sex with him on the bed she shared with her partner. She also gave him $700 (£520) via an app and exchanged naked photographs on Snapchat, a court heard.

The abuse came to light when the boy's parents noticed he was behaving differently. After checking his phone and social media, they discovered he had visited Bardfield's address in Mount Zion for what she described as play dates. The boy then disclosed what had happened and was taken to hospital for a rape kit.

Police devised a plan in which the boy sent Bardfield messages and made recorded calls. In one call, she said her tubes were tied and she could not get pregnant. When asked if they could 'do it again', she replied 'Yes'.

Bardfield pleaded guilty to predatory criminal assault against a minor. She was fired from her job. The Mount Zion Police Department said the allegations were shocking, especially from a person in a position of trust, while the school said student safety was always the top priority.

Bardfield will be sentenced on September 25. The offence carries a maximum of 60 years in prison, but prosecutors have agreed to cap their recommended sentence at 40 years.
