Three suspects have appeared in court after being arrested in dawn raids linked to alleged underworld firebombings in Glasgow. Reece Goodfellow, Dylan Hogg and Kyle Hamilton appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court following a pre-planned police operation on Friday, September 11.
Officers executed warrants at properties in Bellshill and Motherwell in connection with a series of incidents last month. The operation followed a resurgence in violence linked to rival Glasgow crime clans.
Firebomb attack on car garage
Reece Goodfellow, 21, from Motherwell, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 11, after being arrested in connection with an alleged firebomb attack at Kelvinside Motor Company on Milton Road, Kirkintilloch, on August 22. The attack was linked to Francis 'Fraggle' Green.
Goodfellow was charged with wilful fireraising, threatening or abusive behaviour and possessing a bladed or sharply-pointed article in a public place. He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear again in court within eight days.
Dylan Hogg, 21, from Bearsden, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, September 14, charged in connection with the same garage blaze. He was charged with wilful fireraising, driving without a valid license and driving without insurance. He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear again in court within eight days.
Car firebombing and house crash
Kyle Hamilton, 31, also from Bearsden, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, September 11, after being arrested in connection with the alleged firebombing of a car linked to a senior Daniel crime family member on Crowhill Street at 4.30am on April 6. No one was injured in the fire. He was charged with wilful fireraising, made no plea, was committed for further examination, remanded in custody and is due to appear again in court within eight days.
A 29-year-old man was also arrested and charged in the raids after a car struck a property in Low Borland Way, Eaglesham, on Friday, August 21. No one was injured in the crash, but the property suffered structural damage and was fenced off. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Four stolen vehicles were recovered during the operation. Police say extensive enquiries into the incidents remain ongoing, with officers combing through CCTV footage and carrying out forensic analysis.
Police warning
Detective Chief Inspector David Lamont said: "Today's operation is the result of extensive work by a dedicated team of detectives, following a series of incidents across Glasgow last month.
"This day of action should send a clear message to those involved in this type of criminality, that we will not give up and you will be brought to justice.
"These incidents had the potential to have much more serious consequences, and I want to be absolutely clear – this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.
"Significant enquiries remain ongoing in relation to all of these incidents and we will continue to draw on detectives and specialist resources to identify anyone else involved.
