Police are hunting a flasher who exposed himself to nursery children at a Glasgow library. Teachers and children were visiting Knightswood Library for a book club event at 10.45am on Monday when the incident unfolded.
The man allegedly took down his trousers and exposed his genitals before acting inappropriately in the car park. Staff at the library are understood to have brought all the visitors inside the building on Dunterlie Avenue and locked the doors before police were called.
Parents and grandmother speak out
Parents said they felt "sick to their stomach" after being informed of the incident later that day. One mum whose two-year-old daughter was on the nursery trip issued a warning on a local Facebook group to families in the area.
She said: "I’m absolutely sickened to think there are vile people like this around our children. A trip that was meant to be fun for the kids has now been completely ruined, and the nursery teachers had to witness something no one should ever have to see, especially in front of young children."
"Luckily, my daughter is too young to understand what happened, but it’s incredibly upsetting and worrying. The fact that someone would do this, particularly in a place where young children and women are present, makes you worry about what else they could potentially do."
"Our world feels like a dangerous and scary place at times, and I feel sick to my stomach that this has happened. This is a public place where a baby class takes place and where children attend daily, in broad daylight. Please just be aware and keep an eye out when you’re in the area, particularly with your little ones."
Police appeal for information
A grandmother also shared her disgust at the incident. She said: "My granddaughter's nursery took some of the children for their first outing to Knightswood Library for the book club. When they got there... a man standing by his car at the library exposed himself to the children and nursery teachers. Thankfully the staff dealt with the situation swiftly, got all the children inside and the library staff closed the shutters and locked the doors while police were informed. We are unsure if this predator has been caught."
Police Scotland said enquiries into the matter remain ongoing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.45am on Monday, 7 September, 2026, we received a report of a man exposing himself on Dunterlie Avenue, Glasgow. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information or concerns is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1018 of 7 September, 2026."
Glasgow City Council has been contacted for comment.
