A woman has revealed she ended her marriage after discovering her husband appeared to be on dating apps, only to later learn their neighbour had created the fake profile using his photographs.
The distraught wife, who shared her story on Reddit's Relationship_Advice forum, said she received a Facebook message last September claiming her husband was exchanging naked photos with other women on Tinder. After downloading the app herself, she found a profile using her husband's photos, showing his location as 'nearby'.
When she confronted him, a heated argument ensued, and her brother punched the husband. Police were called, and the husband moved out. The couple separated, and he relocated to Sydney to be near his ailing father, seeing their children twice a month.
Fourteen months later, the neighbour's wife knocked on her door and revealed that her husband had been catfishing women online using photos stolen from the couple's MacBook, which they had lent him during the pandemic. The police are now investigating.
The woman expressed a desire to reconcile, but her husband has since decided to proceed with divorce, stating the marriage is beyond repair. He is in therapy and has requested a clean break, with communication only through his lawyer regarding their children.
She concluded: 'It is a series of unfortunate events that has changed many lives and robbed my family of our love and happiness.'
