Former NBA star Christian Wood has made explosive allegations in a Los Angeles court, claiming his ex-girlfriend, Yasmine Lopez, secretly placed a tracking device inside their two-year-old son's nappy bag.
Tracking Device Allegations and Custody Dispute
According to documents filed on January 6th and reported by US Weekly, Wood stated that his sister discovered the concealed device shortly after a recent custody exchange. Wood asserted the tracker was 'carefully hidden' inside their son Kobe's bag with the 'intent to not be found'.
In his legal filing, the ex-Los Angeles Lakers player said the device was not visible or authorised. He believes it was placed to monitor his movements and location through their child, which would reveal his confidential address and whereabouts. A court has previously ordered that Lopez is prohibited from obtaining this information.
Lopez has denied the claim that she was tracking Wood. The couple's relationship began in August 2022 and ended in December of the same year.
Background: A Restraining Order and a Terrifying Break-In
These latest accusations follow a series of dramatic events. In November 2025, Wood was granted sole custody of Kobe after filing for a restraining order against Lopez.
This legal action came shortly after a frightening incident at Wood's home in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. Three intruders broke through his back door around 1pm. Wood told the court he retrieved a firearm and fired three rounds into the ground to scare the men away, believing he was going to die.
In his November filing, Wood suggested Lopez may have had prior knowledge of the break-in attempt. He noted she had been 'extremely vague' about visitation that week and had unexpectedly collected their son from school on November 4th, the day before the home invasion.
Legal Repercussions and Next Steps
The court granted Wood a temporary restraining order, requiring Lopez to stay 100 yards away from him and their son. However, Lopez has denied any involvement in the break-in and filed her own petition for a restraining order against Wood on December 12th.
A crucial hearing where both sides will present their cases is scheduled for January 14th. The outcome could significantly impact the ongoing custody arrangement and the standing restraining orders.
Christian Wood, who spent a decade in the NBA, has stated he no longer feels safe in his own home following the alleged break-in. The case highlights an intensely bitter and complex private legal dispute playing out in the public eye.
