Boy, 10, Found Dead in Pond After Sleepwalking

A 10-year-old boy with a history of sleepwalking was found dead in a large pond in Missouri after leaving his home late Thursday night. Jackson S. Georgari was reported missing shortly before midnight on July 9, 2026, and was discovered unresponsive in a pond near Briarcliff Village on North Mulberry, according to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department.

Details of the Incident

Jackson was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and grey shorts when he left his home. His sister, Semina Richard, stated that he had a history of sleepwalking and had previously gone missing on two occasions. The first incident occurred in San Diego, where he was found safely on the street. After the family moved to Missouri, he sleepwalked again and was found near his school, a place he recognized.

On Thursday night, police launched an urgent search after Jackson was reported missing. Officers found him in a pond described as "very large." Fire and rescue personnel attempted resuscitation, but he was declared deceased at the scene. Local officer Jake Becchina confirmed, "Fire and rescue personnel immediately began resuscitation efforts but unfortunately he was declared deceased there at that location." He added that there is no evidence of foul play.

Community and Family Impact

Officer Becchina expressed the emotional toll on the community, stating, "It hurts in your community when you have a kid that goes out in the middle of the night and whatever the circumstances were that led to him ending up in there." He continued, "It’s not an update we ever want to provide, and it’s truly unfortunate. I really feel for the family involved in this. It’s unimaginable. Can’t even imagine. They went to bed last night, and everything was normal, and now today they have to deal with this."

Jackson's sister believes he walked a path along wooded areas near streams and ponds before falling into the water. She recalled the earlier sleepwalking episodes, noting that the first time in San Diego, someone found him on the street and called 911. After moving to Missouri, he ran away again and went to his school, the only place he recognized. The family is now grieving the loss of Jackson, who was found in the pond after what police believe was a tragic sleepwalking incident.
