An investigation has been launched after a hidden camera was discovered in a ceiling panel of a government building in Westminster, central London. The electronic device was found during routine checks within the past two months at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), which also houses the Home Office. Security services were immediately informed.
Discovery details
On Wednesday, Home Office Minister Lord Hanson confirmed to the House of Lords that the device was located in a communal area of the MHCLG building, and not near any ministerial offices. The discovery has prompted a security review.
Ongoing investigation
Authorities are investigating how the camera was placed and whether any sensitive information was compromised. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about surveillance and security in government premises.
