Emergency services were called to a premises on Maxwell Street in Dalbeattie shortly after 2pm on Monday, August 17, after containers with an "unknown substance" were discovered. The building has been evacuated as a precaution, and police have cordoned off the area.

Police Scotland statement

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are in attendance at a premises on Maxwell Street, Dalbeattie after containers with an unknown substance were found, around 2.05pm on Monday, August 17. The premises has been evacuated as a precaution."

"Enquiries are ongoing and members of the public are asked to avoid the area."
