Two women have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pensioner was found dead in a sheltered housing complex in Stockton.
Incident Details
Police were called to Cedar House on Foxwood Drive at around 2:44am on Tuesday, July 21, following a report from paramedics. A man believed to be in his seventies was pronounced dead at the scene. Two women, aged 41 and 54, have been taken into custody and are being held for questioning.
Police Investigation
Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner of Cleveland Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said: "Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We are working as quickly as possible to establish the circumstances of what happened, however, at this time we do believe that this was a targeted incident which took place inside a block of flats."
Formal identification is pending, but the man's family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
