Two men have been found guilty of murdering a neighbour on his doorstep in Ayrshire. John Taylor, 44, was found with fatal injuries on his doorstep in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, at around 1.55pm on October 18, 2024. He was pronounced dead by emergency services, and police launched a murder investigation.
Guilty Verdicts at High Court
Kieran Lindsay, 20, and Marshall Strachan, 21, were found guilty of murder at the High Court in Glasgow today. A third man, Kiey O’Connor, 28, had earlier pleaded guilty to drugs offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice on June 24. All three were charged with murder and attacking Mr Taylor with a knife at his home in Pollock Crescent, Kilwinning. They are due to be sentenced on August 10.
Police Describe Brutal and Pre-Meditated Attack
Detective Superintendent Graham McCreadie said: “This was a brutal, pre-meditated and targeted murder. Lindsay and Strachan now rightly face the consequences of their actions. Our thoughts remain with John Taylor’s family and friends at this difficult time. Nothing will ever make up for their loss, but I hope they can find some comfort in seeing justice being done.”
Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team and local division conducted the investigation, resulting in prolonged police activity in the Kilwinning area. McCreadie thanked residents for their patience and support. “We care deeply about violence and how it affects the communities we serve. Police Scotland remains committed to addressing the harmful effects of violent crime and supporting victims,” he added.
