Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident in Wimbledon, south London. Police were called to Kingfisher Court at around 10:55 pm on Thursday, July 9, after reports of a potential murder. Officers found the property empty but launched an investigation after concluding that someone may have been harmed at the address.
Arrests and Discovery of Body
On Friday, July 10, two men aged 27 and 32 attended Medway Police Station in Gillingham, Kent, and were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody. Later that day, officers discovered a man's body in a wooded area in Borstal, Kent. Formal identification is pending, but police believe they know the victim's identity and have informed his next of kin, who are being supported by specialist officers.
According to Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway, the victim and the two arrested men were known to each other. A third man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has since been bailed.
Police Appeal
Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway stated: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family who are understandably distraught at their loss. We will continue to offer them every support. This has been a fast-moving investigation and we are working tirelessly to establish the exact circumstances of the incident. Although we have made two arrests and do not believe there is any wider risk to the public, we would ask that anyone with information comes forward to police as soon as possible by calling 101 with CAD 9504/9JUL.”
