Two men have lost their lives following a collision in Newport, prompting Gwent Police to arrest a woman and a teenager on suspicion of murder. The incident occurred on Aberthaw Road in the Alway area shortly after 1am on Thursday.
Arrests Made
An 18-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Details of the Collision
According to a Gwent Police spokesperson, the collision involved a BMW car and a motorbike. The BMW is believed to have fled the scene before officers arrived. The driver and pillion passenger of the motorbike, both males, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Specially trained officers have been assigned to support the families throughout the inquiry.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who were traveling along Aberthaw Road or residents in the surrounding areas between midnight and 1:40am on Thursday, 7 May.
