In a statement, police said: "At approximately 4:40 p.m., an emergency call reported that three people had likely died at the Harzturm observation platform. The first responders on the scene found two men and one woman with fatal injuries." The statement added that, based on the current investigation, no third-party negligence has been found, and the circumstances remain under investigation.

Victims and Family

German outlet Stern reported that the three victims were from the same family, including a child. Police have not indicated any structural fault with the building. The tower, operated by Harzturm GmbH, announced it would be closed on July 17, 2026, but has not otherwise commented.
