Three people have been injured following a stabbing at a school in Manchester on Tuesday, June 9. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) responded to the Co-op Academy on Plant Hill Road in Blackley after reports of knife wounds. A schoolgirl has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Injuries Not Serious
Police confirmed that the injuries sustained by the three individuals are not believed to be life-threatening or serious at this time. In a statement, GMP said: 'Three people have been injured, however injuries aren't believed to be serious at this time. Emergency services remain on scene and we are supporting the school. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the pupils and staff in the school.'
School in Lockdown
According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, police and ambulance vehicles are stationed outside the school gates and within the grounds. A helicopter was also seen overhead. Parents have reported that the school is currently on lockdown, with students instructed to remain in their classrooms. However, authorities have stressed that there is no wider threat to students or staff.
