A 23-year-old man has died in hospital after the car he was travelling in plunged 100ft (30 metres) from a road in a Yorkshire beauty spot, becoming the second fatality from the crash.
Victim identified
Imath Uddin Choudhury was named in a JustGiving appeal launched by the Grains of Hope Foundation, which confirmed he died on Wednesday, July 1, after spending just over a week in hospital with severe injuries sustained in the collision. The fundraiser had already exceeded its £2,000 target by Wednesday, according to Yorkshire Live.
The foundation stated: "In memory of Imad, Grains of Hope Foundation is raising funds to support the most needy families in The Gambia and provide water pumps in Pakistan, helping those in need whilst creating a source of ongoing reward for him, by the will of Allah." They added: "May Allah forgive Imath Choudhury, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, widen and illuminate his grave, and make every donation a means of Sadaqah Jariyah for him. Ameen."
Crash details
West Yorkshire Police said an Audi A3 convertible left the carriageway on Hawksworth Road in Baildon, near the Potter Brow Road junction, at around 7.24pm on Monday, June 22. The car fell down a steep drop, travelling approximately 100 feet from the roadside.
Four people were in the car. A 20-year-old man died at the scene. The driver, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 23-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries, police confirmed.
