Royal Mail postman caught urinating on Nottingham house

A Royal Mail postman has been caught on camera urinating at the front of a house in Nottingham, leaving the occupants 'annoyed and upset'. The incident was captured on a Ring doorbell camera while the postman was on his rounds in Wollaton, a suburb of Nottingham, at around 11.30am on Saturday.

Footage shows postman relieving himself against a wall

The footage shows the postman unzipping his shorts before urinating up a wall next to a gate to the garden. No one was home at the time. The mother of a woman living at the property told the Nottingham Post: 'Our camera gave us an alert but by the time it picked him up, he had left. Otherwise we would’ve shouted down the camera "what are you doing?".'

Residents perplexed by postman's choice of location

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she had sympathy for the postman if his need was truly urgent, but was perplexed regarding his decision as a Post Office is located just down the road. She said: 'I don’t know if he realised we had a camera capturing that. What upsets me is, two houses down, literally less than two minutes away, there is a Post Office. He could’ve gone there. We were quite annoyed and upset. We thought he could have at least tried knocking on the door. He didn’t even attempt to ask a neighbour.'

The woman added: 'I can be sympathetic. He was a bit older and maybe it was urgent. We’re just very annoyed that there’s a Post Office literally opposite the house. He must know it’s there.'

Royal Mail apologises and investigates

Royal Mail apologised for the unfortunate incident and said it was investigating to 'establish the full circumstances'. The occupants of the property received an email stating Royal Mail was 'very sorry to hear of your recent experience with one of our colleagues'. The email continued: 'The majority of our employees are courteous and polite, with a strong customer focus. I apologise you were not treated respectfully on this occasion.'

The correspondence added: 'To deal with this problem, and based on the information you've provided, I have logged and reported the full details of your complaint and passed the details to the appropriate manager to take the necessary action to ensure this does not happen again. Once again, please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of Royal Mail for the problem you've had. I hope that the action and explanation above resolves your enquiry and concludes this matter for you.'

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: 'We are currently investigating this incident. While we are still establishing the full circumstances, this is not the standard of behaviour we expect from our people.'
