Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman died following what officers described as an 'altercation' in Newport. Specially trained firearms officers were called to reports of an incident outside a property on St Vincent Road in the early hours of Saturday.
Woman Pronounced Dead Near Chepstow Road
The woman was pronounced dead by paramedics a short distance away near Chepstow Road. A 66-year-old man from Newport was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Gwent Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. The area remains cordoned off as forensic examinations continue.
