Murder probe after mother and two children found dead in Beds

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman and her two children were found dead at a property in Great Denham, Bedfordshire. Emergency services forced entry into the home on Carnoustie Drive on Monday, July 6, after concerns were raised that the family had not been seen for several days.

Suspect identified and believed to have left the UK

Bedfordshire Police, working alongside the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, confirmed that a murder investigation is underway. A suspect, who was known to the victims, has been identified and is believed to have left the country, according to Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy.

“This is a deeply distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered,” Murphy said. “Our thoughts are first and foremost with all those affected.” He added that the investigation is in its early stages and that all necessary resources are being committed to find the person responsible.

Police reassure public and appeal for information

While there is no evidence of a wider risk to the public, police have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance. Murphy urged anyone with information, particularly about suspicious activity on Friday and Saturday, to come forward. “Any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation,” he said.

Witnesses can contact police via the webchat service at www.beds.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Snowdrift.
