Motorcyclist Dies After East Ham Crash; Appeal for Witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died following a collision with a car in East Ham. Officers were called at 5:38 pm on Tuesday, July 7, to reports of a crash between a car and a motorcycle on Newham Way, at the junction of Woolwich Manor Way.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries

Emergency services attended the scene and transported the motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, to a hospital in critical condition. He died later that evening. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.

Driver Arrested

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, sustained no injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Police Appeal

Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite, from the Met's Road and Transport Policing Command, stated: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of victim at this extremely difficult time.” He added: “As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information, particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”

Authorities urge anyone with information or footage that could assist the investigation to call 101, quoting CAD 6417/08JULY26. Anonymous tips can be submitted via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
