Carl Cooper, 36, has appeared in court charged with murder after a father died following an incident at a karaoke bar in Tameside. The defendant appeared via videolink at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday, July 15, facing one count of murder, one count of assault, and two counts of common assault.

Emergency services were called to the Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar on Bow Street in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 2:40 am on Saturday, July 11, following reports of a physical altercation. Upon arrival, police found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has since been identified as 31-year-old Shane Cullen.
