A man has died after falling from the Harvey Nichols department store in Edinburgh city centre. Emergency services were called to the building on St Andrew Square at around 11.35am on Wednesday, August 19.

Reports indicated that a man had fallen from a height onto the street. When mercy crews arrived, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.

It is understood that Harvey Nichols staff were kept inside the building while police conducted their probe. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.35am on Wednesday, 19 August, 2026, we were called to a report that a man had fallen from height at a building in the St Andrew Square area of Edinburgh. Emergency services attended, however the man was pronounced dead a short time later. Enquiries are ongoing.”
