Man Denies Murdering Wife at Newport Crown Court Trial

A man is standing trial accused of murdering his wife at Newport Crown Court. Michael Davies, 57, has admitted killing his wife Tracey Davies, 48, but denies murder, claiming diminished responsibility.

Body Discovered in Cefn Cribwr

Tracey Davies' body was discovered by police at a property in Cefn Cribwr, near Bridgend, on April 18, 2025. Officers had been called due to concerns for the welfare of those inside. Davies was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. He entered a guilty plea to manslaughter but denied murder on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Family Tributes

Tributes were paid to Ms Davies, formerly Young, who was described as a "devoted mother" and "an extraordinary woman" with a "fierce spirit" and "boundless compassion" by her family.
