Man charged after prisoner escapes custody van in Liverpool

A man has been charged after a prisoner escaped from a custody van outside Liverpool's court building. The prisoner broke free from a GEOAmey prisoner transport van as it arrived outside the court at around 10am on Saturday, August 1.

Charges and court appearance

Stephen Grzyb, 22, of Princess Drive, Dovecot, has been charged with escape from lawful custody. He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon, Wednesday, August 5, and has been remanded into custody to next appear in court at a later date.

Police presence

A Merseyside Police presence remained outside the court building on Saturday with patrols also seen on Red Cross Street.
