Jed Grieve has pleaded not guilty to murdering Gino Robb in Byker last month. Grieve, 33, appeared via video-link from prison at Newcastle Crown Court and entered a not guilty plea to the charge that he killed Mr Robb on June 16.
Two youths, aged 14 and 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are also charged with murder. The charge was not put to them during the hearing as they appeared in the dock.
Details of the incident
Emergency services were called to Shields Road in Byker after reports that a man had been stabbed. Mr Robb sought medical assistance at the Raby pub before being taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. The 25-year-old died of his injuries.
Grieve, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, and the two youths were later charged with murder.
Trial date set
A trial date with a three-week time estimate has been set for January 12 next year. Further pre-trial hearings are scheduled for October and December.
