Police in St Vincent and the Grenadines confirmed that Daniel Vettrino, from Dysart, Fife, died from multiple gunshot wounds on the island of Canouan. The post-mortem examination listed exsanguination due to multiple gunshot wounds. The Royal St Vincent and Grenadines police force stated that investigations are ongoing and appealed for information. Vettrino worked as a technical service manager at Canouan Estate Resort and Villas. His brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, paid tribute on Facebook, calling him a pure soul.
Peter Murrell will not appeal jail sentence
Disgraced former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell, jailed for over five years for embezzling £400,000 from the party, will not appeal his sentence. His solicitor, Matthew McGovern, confirmed to The Herald that Murrell wants to accept responsibility and serve his term. Murrell is held at HMP Dumfries and is said to be doing okay. The thefts occurred over 12 years while he was married to former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who denied knowledge.
Ex-gangster Paul Ferris plans third movie
Former gangster Paul Ferris, 62, plans a third film about his life titled Going Straight, to follow the sequel Ferris. The Wee Man, a BAFTA-winning film, covered his early life. Ferris hopes to start filming in August and launch early next year. He told the Daily Record that profits will pay off a five-figure tax debt to HMRC. The third movie will document his attempts to go straight and become a legitimate businessman.
Man charged with rape of 16-year-old in Glasgow park
A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly pushed into bushes and raped in Springburn Park, Glasgow, between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on 26 June. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 July.
Brute jailed for hotel attacks on woman met via Facebook
Brian Chilcott, 39, from Kelso, was jailed for four years for assaulting a woman he met on Facebook. Attacks occurred at a Northumberland hotel, where blood was found on walls and bed, and at her home in South Tyneside. He admitted two charges of assault and one of criminal damage, and received a 15-year restraining order. The victim said she is absolutely terrified of what he is capable of.
