Andrea Shaw, a 23-year-old Idaho mother who claimed her 18-month-old twins died from vaccines, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder. The deaths occurred on May 1, 2023, when police responded to a report of a possibly deceased child in Payette, Idaho. Officers discovered the twin siblings, Tyson and Dallas, deceased in a shared bed.
Investigation and Podcast Appearance
Days after the twins' deaths, Shaw and her husband appeared on a podcast produced by Children's Health Defense, an anti-vaccination organization previously led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary. Shaw claimed vaccines had killed her children. She stated on the podcast that investigators had suggested asphyxiation as the cause, alleging a postpartum blackout.
A GiveSendGo fundraiser linked to the episode raised over $10,000, with the family claiming the twins died days after receiving routine vaccines at an 18-month well-child visit.
Legal Proceedings and Allegations
Shaw's attorney, Joseph Filicetti, told KTVB that the twins died from vaccinations, though he provided no evidence. Court documents cited by KTVB indicate the indictment alleges Shaw suffocated her toddlers. Shaw also filed a civil lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics with Children's Health Defense, stating no alternative cause of death was identified.
Shaw was arrested without incident in Boise on June 30, 2024, and is held on a $2 million bond. The cause of death has not been publicly released. Payette police stated they will not comment further as the case is before the court.
Future Court Appearance
Shaw's next appearance in Payette County District Court is scheduled for July 14.
