Caitlin Anderson, 25, of Govanhill Street, Glasgow, was arrested on board a Ryanair flight after it landed at Newcastle Airport on July 10. Her conduct led cabin crew to contact police before touchdown.
Magistrates heard the customer service administrator was "disruptive" towards staff, became involved in a confrontation with a fellow passenger and tore out her own hair extensions, in behaviour described as "acting weirdly".
Christopher O'Brien, prosecuting, told the court: "The police at Newcastle International Airport were contacted by the crew on the flight because of a disruptive passenger."
Arrest and hospital checks
Officers boarded the aircraft after it arrived and arrested Anderson. She was initially taken to hospital amid concerns she had "consumed a substance, which contributed to her behaviour".
Defence solicitor Janice Hall said: "She was immediately taken to hospital as there were concerns she may have consumed a substance, which contributed to her behaviour. She's thoroughly embarrassed by it and devastated. It's totally out of character."
Fine and costs
Anderson admitted being disruptive on an aircraft at Newcastle Magistrates' Court this week. The court heard she had a single previous conviction and was "thoroughly ashamed" of herself.
Magistrates imposed a £1,477 fine, along with £85 in costs and a £591 victim surcharge.
