Violent incidents in Nottingham city centre
Two incidents of large-scale violence occurred in Nottingham city centre on May 13 last year. The first confrontation is said to have broken out outside Unit 13 nightclub on Burton Street between two rival groups, allegedly involving weapons, kicking, punching and stamping.
Shortly afterwards, on Upper Parliament Street, one of those allegedly involved is accused of attempting to kill two of his co-defendants by mounting the pavement in a vehicle and striking them.
Court appearance and charges
A total of 11 men, including Alvin Temofeh, 23, of Stanley Road, Eccles, have appeared before the court in connection with the two linked incidents. Temofeh entered a not guilty plea to a single charge of possession of a knife in public in Upper Parliament Street.
Denzil Raphael, 23, of Elm Avenue, Nottingham, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of dangerous driving. He was not required to enter any pleas and was released on bail, subject to conditions that he must not enter Nottingham city centre between 7pm and 7am and must not drive any motor vehicle.
Defendants and pleas
The following individuals have all been charged with violent disorder in connection with the incident: Kai Bennett, 21, of both Russell Street, Nottingham, and Townsend Terrace, Richmond, Surrey; Nelson Emerum, 21, of Westwell Close, Orpington, Kent; Daquon Lumsden Leslie, 21, of Russell Street, Nottingham; Harry Finch, 21, of Crown Road, Twickenham, London; Kaden Hollebon, 21, of Cleves Road, Richmond-Upon-Thames, London; Kyreese Bartley, 20, of Tillingbourne Green, Orpington, Kent; Gift Aigbefoh, 21, of Queen Adelaide Road, Penge, London; Kobe Curniffe, 21, of Ridgemount Avenue, Croydon, Surrey; and Michael Gitahi, 23, of Atlantis Avenue, Beckton, London.
Finch and Lumsden admitted guilt on the charges they faced. The remaining defendants all responded with 'no plea' when questioned.
All defendants were informed they are due to appear next at Nottingham Crown Court on August 27. Each was granted unconditional bail, with the exception of Raphael, whose bail is subject to conditions.
