Edinburgh Man Detained in US Over Child Targeting

Bryan Nevin, 22, from Edinburgh, was arrested in Chillicothe, Missouri, after flying 4,000 miles to target a child he met online. Police had warned him to stay away, but he was found hiding in bushes outside the family's rural home on July 12. Nevin allegedly threatened to distribute explicit images of the juvenile victim and threatened to kill the mother. He had been targeting the child for over eight months via Xbox, Snapchat, TikTok, and other social media. Nevin approached the child's father with a note asking the family to contact him. He bought a plane ticket after police told him to stop contacting the family. The child received TikTok messages saying Nevin was outside, and he posted a Snapchat story from a nearby park, about two miles from the house. In a police interview, Nevin said he went to Missouri to "clear his name."
