A man who died after a 'stabbing' at the Edinburgh Banana Flats has been named by police as Barry Gilgun, 35. He was found with serious injuries outside Cables Wynd House at around 9.45pm on Sunday, July 5. Emergency crews rushed to the scene following reports of a disturbance. Barry was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but died shortly after. Police confirmed a 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death. The court heard the couple married in Nigeria before coming to the UK, where they had a daughter. After a breakdown in the relationship, Ms Atutie moved to Edinburgh with their child. On November 11, 2025, she was taking her daughter for a doctor's appointment when Atutie approached them.
