A man and a woman have appeared in court after being charged with murder following the death of an 83-year-old man in the Cotswolds. Adina Mihai, 30, and Madalin Dumitru, 29, are charged with the murder of Malcolm King in connection with an incident at an address in Bagendon, near Cirencester, on August 21, 2024.
The charges come after a joint investigation by Gloucestershire Police and Thames Valley Police. In relation to the same incident, the pair—both formerly of Sandway Gardens, Birmingham—have also been charged with an alternative count of manslaughter, administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH), an alternative count of administering poison, and conspiracy to steal.
Appearing at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, April 24, Mihai and Dumitru both entered not guilty pleas to a total of 19 charges. The pair had previously been charged by Thames Valley Police in connection with the death of 37-year-old Gary Mouat at an address in Hazeldene Gardens, Banbury, on July 13 last year. In relation to that incident, they are charged with murder, an alternative count of manslaughter, administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm, an alternative count of administering poison, and conspiracy to steal.
Mihai and Dumitru have also been charged in relation to the alleged poisoning and conspiracy to steal from three men on three separate occasions between July 13 and 31 last year. In relation to those three men, the pair face three counts of administering poison so as to inflict grievous bodily harm, three alternative counts of administering poison, and three counts of conspiracy to steal.
Both defendants have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Oxford Crown Court on June 3 in relation to all charges.
