An investigation has been launched after a man was spotted setting a car on fire in Oldham. The suspect was seen acting suspiciously around Agnes Street, Chadderton at around 7.30am on Tuesday (July 28).
Soon after, he approached a vehicle and set it alight. A massive fire erupted, causing extensive damage to the car and two other vehicles parked nearby. Police say no injuries were reported.
Appeal for witnesses and footage
The incident is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life. Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious, to come forward. Greater Manchester Police is particularly interested in hearing from anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage.
At this stage, investigators believe this was a targeted incident and do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
