Boy's Condition Improves After Crocodile Enclosure Incident
A three-year-old boy who was allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure at a Cambridgeshire zoo is now in stable condition, according to police. The child had been in critical condition after being attacked by at least one crocodile during the incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst on Thursday.
Arrest and Bail
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident. He was later bailed after being assessed as not fit for interview. Reports indicate the suspect has learning difficulties and was on a trip with carers at the time of the alleged attack.
Police and Emergency Response
Cambridgeshire Police were called to the zoo at 1:24 pm on Thursday by the ambulance service. The boy suffered serious injuries while inside the enclosure but was pulled out by zoo staff. Tracey Johnson, wife of the zoo owner, reportedly jumped into the enclosure to rescue the child. The boy received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Update on Boy's Condition
On Monday, Cambridgeshire Police confirmed that the boy was no longer critical and was in a stable condition in hospital. The investigation continues.
