Boy, 13, killed and woman hospitalised in M4 crash

A 13-year-old boy has died and a woman was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on the M4 motorway in Wiltshire. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene between junctions 16 and 17 on Saturday night.

Details of the collision

Police confirmed that a Toyota vehicle collided with a Renault van. The boy, a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman, also a passenger in the Toyota, was taken to hospital for treatment. Neither driver sustained serious injuries.

Road closures and response

The westbound carriageway of the M4 was closed following the crash, while the eastbound carriageway was held for two hours to allow air ambulances to land. Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
