Lynne Trump, 45, died after losing control of her Honda motorbike while navigating a sweeping bend on the A4109 near Neath, an inquest opening at Swansea Guildhall has heard. She was described by her family as "one of life's rare diamonds".
Collision near Cefn Coed Colliery
At 3.13pm on Sunday, August 16, South Wales Police received a report from the ambulance service of a vehicle collision near Cefn Coed Colliery on the A4109. The report stated that the rider of a Honda motorcycle had come off their bike and was lying unresponsive on the floor, with CPR already commenced.
Mrs Trump, of Bryn Bedd, Seven Sisters, Neath Port Talbot, was navigating a sweeping offside bend when she lost control of her motorbike, fell to the ground, and died from her injuries. Members of the public attempted first aid immediately, but despite their efforts and those of paramedics, she was declared deceased at the scene.
Identification and investigation
Mrs Trump was pronounced dead at 3.59pm and was identified by her husband at the scene. South Wales Police collision investigators continue to investigate the crash, but there is no information to suggest she came into contact with any other vehicle.
A postmortem examination was carried out on August 20. The full result is pending a toxicology report, but the preliminary cause of death was given as multiple organ injuries and motorcycle crash.
Inquest and tributes
Senior coroner Aled Gruffydd opened a full inquest into her death and adjourned it to February 3 next year for a full hearing and report. The coroner offered his condolences to the family.
Mrs Trump, who worked as a plant operator, was married to Jason Trump, a fellow plant operator. Her family described her as a "devoted wife, a loving mother and a cherished grandmother".
In tribute, they said: "Lynne was fun, loving, caring, and generous, with a wonderful personality that drew people towards her. She was the life and soul of every party, always bringing laughter, warmth and happiness wherever she went."
