Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent search for Marwan Jumaa, a 20-year-old inmate who escaped custody while being transported from a secure hospital unit to North Manchester General Hospital for medical treatment. Jumaa is currently serving a custodial sentence for assault.
Police Warning: Do Not Approach
Police have issued a stark warning to the public: anyone who sees Jumaa should not approach him but must call 999 immediately, quoting log number 3544 of 14/07/2026. The force described Jumaa as a black male of skinny build, with short, dark hair, standing approximately 5ft 10in tall.
According to a GMP spokesperson, Jumaa is believed to have links to Bury, Prestwich, Crumpsall, as well as Leeds and London. The escape occurred on July 14, 2026, and police are appealing for information on his whereabouts.
